Te mahi/ The role
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and organised Therapies Assistant to support our occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and social workers in delivering holistic, compassionate care to patients and their whānau—both at home and in our Inpatient Unit (IPU).
Reporting to the Allied Health Manager, you’ll be hands-on in supporting therapy programmes, coordinating with social support services, managing clinical equipment, and keeping the wheels turning behind the scenes with strong admin support. Your work helps deliver care underpinned by Te Whare Tapa Whā.
Additionally, you will be:
- Assisting with therapy sessions and patient activities under professional guidance
- Coordinating patient appointments and handling admin tasks like calls, referrals, and documentation
- Supporting patients and families with compassion, both over the phone and in person
- Managing clinical equipment: ordering, tracking, distributing, and collecting
Ngā pūkenga e hiahiatia / What we would like to see from you:
You may have experience as an Allied Health Assistant, or come from a health, community, or admin background and want to be part of a meaningful, patient-focused team. You’re organised, empathetic, and comfortable working closely with people facing challenging health journeys.
We would also like to see:
- A relevant qualification in human services, social science, or a related field is desired
- Must have previous experience working in healthcare
- Work history that involves working alongside clinical health professionals, patient and whānau-facing care, experience with grief and loss would be an advantage to this role
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office, Excel and patient management software
- Cultural awareness with an understanding and respect for our diverse community, and for the journey each patient and family is travelling
- Full clean NZ driver's licence
