Job Description

Te mahi/ The role

Tōtara Hospice provides holistic assessment and care planning which is underpinned by a Te Whare Tapa Whā framework where the team collaborates in partnership with the patient and whānau.  We are looking for a hands-on, passionate and innovative clinician who is focused on delivering best practice occupational therapy services to those who use our service.

As our Occupational Therapist you will be responsible for:

  • Providing effective and timely occupational therapy service delivery to patients and whānau referred by our multi-disciplinary team
  • Providing support and care using therapeutic solutions to assist patients to remain in, or return, to their homes
  • Assisting with providing palliative rehabilitation whereby people with a terminal illness set realistic and achievable goals towards their well-being and quality of life
  • Providing individual or group occupational interventions that are goal-directed
  • Addressing equipment needs as appropriate and indicated

  • Must be currently registered with the Occupational Therapy Board of NZ
  • Have an understanding of and commitment to the multidisciplinary team approach
  • We welcome candidates from diverse backgrounds; experience in providing therapy during times of grief and loss would be an advantage for this role
  • You will have a warm and friendly approach and the ability to use a range of therapeutic modalities appropriate to the client's needs, culture and concerns 
  • Cultural awareness with an understanding and respect for our diverse community, and for the journey each patient and family is travelling
  • Full clean NZ driver's licence
