Te Mahi | The Role
As a Clinical Educator, you’ll ensure our teams remain at the forefront of contemporary palliative care. You’ll create and deliver impactful education programmes that empower clinicians and elevate patient and whānau experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with nursing leads and senior clinicians to identify learning needs and develop the annual clinical education plan.
- Coordinate and support orientation, preceptorship, student placements, and early‑career nursing programmes (SFYP / ENSIPP).
- Support nurses through the PDRP process and maintain assessor accreditation (or be willing to work towards this).
- Deliver and coordinate internal and external training programmes (e.g., Fundamentals of Palliative Care, syringe driver training, simulation sessions).
- Ensure clinical education is aligned with quality improvement initiatives, regulatory requirements, and best practice guidelines.
- Regional collaboration with local Hospices
- Mentor and coach clinical staff, fostering leadership potential and a culture of excellence.

If you are someone who thrives on building capability, inspiring confidence, and lifting the standard of clinical practice, then we’d love to hear from you.
You must also have:
- A postgraduate qualification in education
- Experience in hospice, palliative care, or a related specialty is an advantage (but not essential).
- Current registration with the relevant professional body (e.g., Nursing Council of NZ or equivalent).
- Demonstrated experience in clinical teaching, coaching, or educational leadership.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage, motivate, and influence staff across multiple disciplines.
- Passion for developing others and building capability.
- Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Up‑to‑date knowledge of sector standards, clinical guidelines, and emerging trends in palliative and holistic care.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- A clean NZ full drivers licence
