Te Mahi|The Role…
This is a role where every day feels purposeful. You’ll be part of a supportive, friendly team where your work helps bring comfort and care to our community. Most of your time will be spent in the kitchen preparing and serving nutritious meals for patients and their whānau, making sure every plate shows care and respect. You’ll also pitch in at Aroha Eatery during busy moments and help with weekend prep, working alongside volunteers to keep quality, presentation, and food safety at a high standard. From catering to cultural and dietary needs to helping with seasonal events, you’ll play a key part in creating connection and comfort through food.

We’re looking for someone who enjoys working with others, jumps in with confidence, and picks things up quickly. This role suits someone energetic, eager to grow, and happy to support the team whenever needed. Strong communication and collaboration matter, along with reliability and a genuinely positive outlook.
It helps if you have:
- Computer literacy
- Awareness of health and safety and food hygiene protocols
- Experience in a healthcare setting (a bonus, not a must)
- A commitment to high standards and steady improvement

Since 1981, Tōtara Hospice has been a cornerstone of specialist palliative care for South and South-East Auckland, serving one of New Zealand's most diverse communities. Each year, we provide holistic, multidisciplinary care to over 1,100 patients and their whānau, offering services that include inpatient care, community-based support, and a 24-hour advice line—all at no cost to our community.
